Celebrating Mozart at Mdina’s Palazzo de Piro Cultural Centre

On Wednesday 14 November at 8pm, Animae String Quartet will be celebrating one of the greatest composers in the world, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, for a fantastic recital at Palazzo de Piro Cultural Centre in Mdina.

Animae String Quartet, a newly-formed quartet, has already performed to great critical acclaim.  The Quartet is formed by four international musicians hailing from Spain, Czech Republic and Malta; namely, Ana Martinez Tos and Inmaculada Munos Salguero on the violin, Lucie Kucharova on the cello and Karl Mifsud on the viola.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is among the most significant and enduring popular composers of European classical music. His enormous output includes works that are widely acknowledged as pinnacle of symphonic, chamber, piano, operatic, and choral music.

Despite his early death at 35 years of age, he composed over 600 works and he has influenced subsequent composers, becoming one of the most popular Classical composers. 

The programme of this remarkable recital will feature some of Mozart most inspiring music including Eine Kleine Nachtmusic (Serenade No 13 for strings in Gmajor) K. 525, String quartet No 15 in d minor K. 421 and Divertimento in F Major K. 138 amongst other.

The event is being organized by Barocco Foundation in collaboration with Palazzo de Piro and the kind sponsorship of the Bank of Valletta.

The magnificent 17th century Palazzo de Piro is located in Malta’s medieval city, Mdina. Now operated by The Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux, this multi-function venue features a program of various collections held by the Metropolitan Cathedral Museum, hosts local and international artistic events and offers an outstanding setting to promote and sell independent contemporary art.

Palazzo de Piro also includes the Xpresso Café, offering panoramic views over Malta and open for lunch, snacks and coffee breaks. It is available for fully catered meetings, conferences and private functions from 10 to 300 people which will delight guests with a unique venue that combines both sense of history and contemporary qualities and comforts.
