I refer to Duncan Barry’s article entitled “Gentlemen’s club owner claims police acted unfairly, alleges frame-up” (TMIS, 11 November).

With reference to your request hereunder please note that vice squad officers have performed a routine inspection at the club “Stilletto” on Monday 5 November. Since some documents were missing, other Vice Squad officers went to collect them the following day, that is Tuesday 6 November. No inspection was carried out on that day, the officers picked up the papers and left the establishment to carry on with an inspection at another club. 

On Thursday 8 November, other vice squad officers made a second inspection. It is to be noted that only two inspections were carried out in Mr Axisa’s establishment, which is the average number of inspections carried out in such clubs monthly.

Regarding the matter of the alleged frame-up and the Romanian lady who asked to work in the club, Mr Axisa never mentioned this to the police, nor to the police officers who effected the inspection or the inspector in charge.
