An evening with Simon Schembri

Simon Schembri, internationally acclaimed Maltese musician now based in France, returns to Malta for a unique solo recital of classical guitar followed by a cocktail reception at Palazzo de Piroin Mdinaon Saturday 8 December at 8pm.

Simon Schembri figures today as an eminent musician on the international scene.  Since the age of 14, he graduated at the Royal Schools of Music of London, and then integrated the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique of Paris (equivalent of Master of Arts) where he won the First Prize Award in interpretation. His amazing technique is combined to a personal sensitive sound, making his creative playing very special. Simon Schembri has a great capacity to establish direct emotional contact with his audiences. He has performed worldwide in various venues and major festivals, notably in France, England, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Poland, Switzerland, Tunisia, Martinique and Venezuela.

This exceptional and unequalled performance will highlight major works of Spanish and Latin American music, including compositions by Gaspard Sanz, Francisco Tarrega, Enrique Granados and Isaac Albeniz amongst others.

The recital will be followed by a cocktail reception in the majestic upper floor of Palazzo de Piro where one can meet the artist in the elegant surroundings of this magnificently restored 17th century Palazzo. A selection of beverages, savoury and sugary canapés will be guaranteed by the Infinitely Xara caterers.
