The international insurance company MAPFRE has been confirmed as the leading Non-Life insurer in Latin America, with 10.1% of the premiums, according to a study published by FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE for the tenth consecutive year.
The study also indicates that the Latin American insurance sector showed its strength in 2011 in a challenging international context. The insurance companies in the region achieved a premiums increase of 14.2%, to €103,181 million, according to the study, which analyses in detail the evolution of the 25 major insurance groups in the region.
The Non-Life business in Latin America recorded total premiums of €54,941 million, a 15.8% rise over the previous year. The Life Assurance business achieved premiums of €48,240 million, a 12.6% rise.
