BOV Mobile becomes even better with new Mobile Top Up functionality

Topping up a mobile phone is now easier than ever thanks to new functionality launched on BOV Mobile.

“We are delighted to announce that BOV Mobile has become even better with the addition of a new, ultra-convenient service through which customers can top up any mobile phone – whether their own, that of a friend, family, colleague, or anyone else with a  Vodafone “Prepaid plan” or a GO “Pay as you GO” mobile phone connection,” announced Ivo Camilleri, Executive Head responsible for Electronic Banking at Bank of Valletta.

Bank of Valletta is the first and only bank in Malta to offer a 24x7 banking service through a fully dedicated Mobile application – BOV Mobile – that was launched in March this year. BOV Mobile also features BOV Mobile Pay – the first person to person payments via mobile that is available in Malta.

“The new top up service continues to make BOV Mobile even better for our customers. The mobile top-up is performed through a few easy taps on the smartphone: select the number to top up from your contact list or enter it directly; choose the amount to be topped up; authorise the transaction by entering your PIN; and the mobile number you have selected is topped up”, explained Mr. Camilleri.

This easy to use and intuitive style has now become synonymous with BOV Mobile. For even more added convenience, customers can now also view the photo of the person whose mobile they are topping up whilst making the top-up. The photo feature is also available when customers send a payment to Mobile Pay subscribers in their contact list, and is available wherever customers store a photo of their contact on their phone book.

Concurrently, BOV has taken the same state-of-the-art security and privacy measures when introducing these features, giving customers the required peace-of-mind to comfortably transact and manage their money using the ingenious and ever popular smartphone device.  

These enhancements are the latest in a series of innovations that in recent years have moved Bank of Valletta to a leadership position in mobile banking and mobile payments. They are the result of dynamic and integrated work across the company with the goal of bringing mobile convenience to more customers in more lines of business.

The BOV Mobile top-up any mobile service complements the other mobile top up services offerred by the Bank. Customers who do not have a compatible smartphone can top-up their mobile phone through SMS, or alternatively by using either Internet Banking, or any BOV ATM across Malta and Gozo. As with all the BOV mobile top up services, customers benefit from an automatic and immediate withdrawal from their bank account for the payment top-up, and the mobile number topped up also receives an SMS confirming the top up.
