Bank of Valletta has today announced the appointment of two of its senior executives to Chief Officers.

Joseph M Camilleri was appointed Chief Officer, Human Resources and Anthony Scicluna was appointed Chief Officer, Group Internal Audit.

“The upgrades come as a result of the continuous growth of the Bank”, said Charles Borg, the Chief Executive of the Bank, whilst welcoming the new Chief Officers to the senior executive management team of Bank of Valletta.

“The Bank treats its Human Resources as its most important asset”, commented Mr Borg. “One of the first changes that the Bank undertook when I took over as Chief Executive Officer of the Bank was to take responsibility for the Human Resources. The organization is built and depends entirely on its people and as such, the Human Resources aspect of the Bank deserves the highest level of attention. The time has now come to strengthen this further and we believe that by appointing a Chief Officer directly responsible for personnel, we will continue to improve on what has already been achieved so far”, continued Mr Borg.

“Being the third line of defence, Internal Audit is an integral part of the governance structure of the Bank”, said Mr Borg. “Internal Audit has become a key player not only within the enterprise risk management framework of the Bank of Valletta Group but also within the whole of the continuous developing financial services sector. The Risk and Compliance functions have long been recognized as forming the basis of the Bank’s Governance Structure and putting Internal Audit on their same level will ensure that the Bank will have a most robust structure in place”, Mr Borg continued by saying.

“I am confident that through these appointments, the Senior Executive Team of the Bank will be enhanced in a way which will enable us to face the challenges created through the continuous development in the financial services sector and the economy at large. This will also enable the Bank to pursue its long term vision of growth and maintain its position as the major financial services organization in Malta”, concluded Mr Borg.
