Air Malta has been appointed the Official Carrier of the prestigious European Film Awards which will be held in Malta on Saturday, 1st December 2012 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

This year's edition of the European Film Awards (EFA) is an important milestone since the organisers will be celebrating the awards' silver jubilee since the first edition was held in Berlin on 26th November 1988.

Around 650 international guests including nominees for the awards, EFA members, international sponsors and partners will be flying on Air Malta to attend this important event.

Some 10 TV crews and over 100 journalists will also fly to Malta to cover and promote the Awards to a worldwide audience. A good number of local and international photographers will also be at the Red Carpet to photograph the distinguished guests.

Commenting on Air Malta's involvement in the EFA, Philip Saunders, Chief Commercial Officer said, "As the Official Carrier of this renowned event, Air Malta is actively flying in guests to Malta on its scheduled services from major European gateways especially from German airports. We at Air Malta feel priviledged to be associated with such a high-profile event that will promote the Maltese islands abroad."

The awards ceremony takes place in Berlin every second year. In the other years the Awards have traveled to London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Tallinn and for the 25th edition to Malta.

The 2012 nominations were announced at the Seville European Film Festival at the beginning of November.

Air Malta augurs the organisers and nominees a successful event here in Malta.
