Not exactly gourmet

Malta Independent Saturday, 1 December 2012, 10:26 Last update: about 13 years ago

I refer to the editorial entitled, ‘Not exactly gourmet’ (27 November). Air Malta remains committed to providing a high-level of service. For the time being, we are one of the few remaining carriers in Europe to offer a full meal service for no additional charge.

However, we agree that there are opportunities for improving our in-flight catering service, particularly on those occasions where it does not meet the high standards we set and demand. I personally regret any lapse in service resulting in dissatisfied customers.

We address all issues of this nature with our catering contractor, SkyGourmet. I am confident that they will continue to apply themselves in eradicating any issues which impact quality.

We want to ensure that our customers can enjoy our catering on every flight.

I agree with your editorial in that the world of aviation is evolving all the time and that change is needed. That’s why we are planning to reshape our in-flight service over the coming months to offer more choice, flexibility and to provide more food options that reflect Maltese traditions.

Our new brand positioning revolves around the airline becoming a recognised ambassador for the Maltese Islands in every aspect of our welcome and service. The national airline will truly be ‘Flying The Pride of Malta’ over the years to come.
