Hats off to Mgr C. Scicluna for defending fellow Maltese, Dr Tonio Borg of the Nationalist Party (PN), for his Catholic convictions.

Pity that the same Maltese Church, which Mgr Scicluna represents as auxiliary bishop, did not speak out against the subtle robbery of a service pension entitled to MEB employees, the result of a court judgement handed down on 12 October. The misdeed was not the work of some northern European agnostic group. It was planned and executed by the same Maltese Nationalist Party whose acolytes are proud of having been educated at a Maltese Church college noted for teaching Catholic social justice. Is cheating workers of their service pension inspired by Christ’s teachings and the Church's Social Justice code?

I do not endorse the statement that the Church is among the people. The Church might be present with its elaborate building in the centre of the village or town, but I am afraid, it does not stand among its baptized inhabitants who have to suffer injustices. At present, the Church is more concerned about being pleasant and supportive to its political allies rather than to its fidili. What do the Lehen is-Sewwa (The Voice Of Righteousness), The Catholic Action and Maltese Young Christian Movement stand for? 

Mgr Scicluna, please show us your valour and continue to instil more credibility in the ministry of the Maltese church.
