The Financial Innovation awards are organised by the ifs School of Finance.  The trophy was presented to the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer Charles Borg at a ceremony held at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London. BOV Mobile won the category of “Innovation in customer propositions and product design: Payments”. BOV Mobile is the combined Mobile Payments and Mobile Banking App launched by Bank of Valletta in March 2012.  It is the first smart phone App to be launched by any of the banks operating in Malta , and is the result of a new and ground-breaking vision, strategy and product design process that has transformed the way the Bank develops and implements engaging customer propositions. The Bank made it also as a finalist in three other categories: Best Payments Initiative(for BOV Mobile), Most Innovative Application of Technology-Mobile Banking; and Excellence in Regulation, Risk and Compliance.  “The 15th annual Financial Innovation Awards was one of the most keenly contested yet, with nominees demonstrating outstanding creativity and innovation in their products and services.  The judges were extremely impressed by the high standard of competition throughout every category and we would like to congratulate Bank of Valletta on their truly impressive achievement,” said Chris Ray, Director of Communications and Alumni Services at the ifs School of Finance. “The Bank has got a very good reputation in Malta for its customer-centricity and innovation but it was a real thrill for us to beat world-renowned banks like Barclays and RBS. The fact that we made it as finalists in four categories shows that the Bank’s constant investment in technology is paying dividends,” Mr Borg said.
