Tchaikovsky’s ‘The Nutcracker’ will be screening live via satellite from London’s Royal Opera House in an exclusive, one-night-only event taking place at Eden Cinemas on Thursday, 13th December at 20:15.

The Nutcracker, comprised of two glorious acts, took a full year to compose, and now serves to represent one of Tchaikovsky’s most popular ballets. The enchanting piece presents a tale filled with romanticism, magic, and the search for ideal love. Stars Roberta Marquez [Sugar Plum Fairy], and Steven McRae [The Prince] bring this exquisite tale to life, as one of the twentieth century’s greatest classics graces the infamous Royal Opera House.

Performances by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House make for a must see event for any ballet fan. Production and choreography by Peter Wright (after Lev Ivanov) set the stage alight, as conductor Koen Kessels works to ensure that every note of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece is performed to the highest level of excellence.

According to the official Royal Opera House website, “Peter Wright’s classic production, first seen at Covent Garden in 1984, is an essential part of Christmas for audiences of all ages.”

In order to recreate the feel of a real opera house, Eden Cinemas will dim all theatre lights and enhance the sound, giving audience members a chance to experience every moment and each expression up close, but at a mere fraction of the original ticket price, and excluding the travel expenses.

Tickets are available at €23 for adults and just €10 for under 16’s.  All those attending will also benefit from free parking and a 25% discount at InterContinental restaurants upon presentation of their opera ticket. Group discounts are available.
