Malta Independent Tuesday, 11 December 2012, 15:09 Last update: about 13 years ago

‘Opus 2012 After the Masters’ is a recent collection of paintings by Ray Piscopo in a personal exhibition held at Cavalieri Hotel, St Julians which is being supported by Valletta Fund Management Ltd. (“VFM”).

A full-colour 24 page catalogue documents this exhibition with an apt image on front cover. ‘Archangel Michael’ an interpretation from Guido Reni’s masterpiece whose source is Donatello’s St. George and Pippo Spano by Andrea del Castagno serves as the logo of the artist’s vision.

This collection of formidable work bares the soul and character of the artist.  His colourful, bold and modern dialetic is based on masterpieces by great masters old and modern. Piscopo is inspired by unique works transforming them through personal interpretation into a language coming out from his heart and mind.  Some of the works provide a glimpse of happenings, surprises and situations that will remain deeply embedded in his being, soul and body. Other works depict a visual message, not necessarily meaningful or nourishing to the soul.

Speaking on the inauguration of the exhibition, Ms Edith O’Connor, Marketing Manager at VFM said “As a leader in the provision of Collective Investment Schemes in Malta, VFM is committed to enhance the prosperity of the community in which we operate and continues to give its long term support to cultivate local talent of established as well as emerging artists about to take their first steps in solo exhibitions or collective exhibitions”.

The exhibition is open until 24th January 2013.
