On stage at Verdala Palace late in the evening, just after L-Istrina reached and announced the €2 million mark, a team from Banif Bank (Malta) plc made the largest contribution to the event by donating the sum of €292,340 to the Malta Community Chest Fund, pushing the total L-Istrina sum further and helping to make this year’s L-Istrina a record-breaker.

The hefty sum was collected through this year’s President’s Charity Fun Run which was supported by Banif Bank for the fourth consecutive year. The Fun Run was another record-breaker, well exceeding 13,000 runners and walkers, the highest participation level ever. The team was led by Banif Bank Chairman Joseph Sammut who presented the sum to President George Abela and Mrs Abela, on behalf of the bank.

“Banif Bank cherishes its close association with the Malta Community Chest Fund and is proud to be an important benefactor to L-Istrina while mobilising thousands of people of all ages and from all walks of life in the largest annual event of solidarity that is the President’s Charity Fun Run,” said Joseph Sammut.
