Blackburn manager sacked less than two months in the job

Blackburn Rovers has sacked its coach Henning Berg after less than two months in the job following a poor run of form for the second-tier club.

Blackburn announced "the departure of manager Henning Berg, assistant manager Eric Black, first-team coach Iain Brunskill and goalkeeping coach Bobby Mimms with immediate effect" on Thursday — citing "a very disappointing sequence of results."

A former Blackburn defender during his playing career, the 43-year-old Norwegian was in charge for 10 league games — winning just once and losing five of the last six matches.

He was appointed on Oct. 31 after Blackburn's search for a full-time replacement for Steve Kean, who resigned in September.

Currently 17th in the 24-team League Championship, the team was fifth in the standings when Berg took over.
