GlobalCapital chairman presents long service awards

Dawood Rawat, Chairman of GlobalCapital, has presented 16 staff members with long-service awards at a ceremony held at GlobalCapital’s headquarters in Ta’Xbiex. The staff members were drawn from GlobalCapital and its subsidiaries.

Some staff received 25-year service awards, with the awards ranging from 10 to 25 years. Those presented with the 25 years award by Mr Rawat were Chris Chetcuti and Emanuel Munro. They were followed by the 20 years presentees, James Blake and Lucienne Camilleri. The 15 years awards consisted of Maria Cachia, Mario DeGiovanni, Katya Gambin, Dorothy Galea Debono, Maria Farrugia; 10 years service award to Alison Camilleri, Marcelle Taliana, Lorraine Pulis, Alison Callus, Sally Jo Farrugia, Connie Farrugia and Louis Borg.

GlobalCapital is today the result of a merger in 2003 between two leading financial services companies in Malta: Global Financial Services Group primarily providing investment services and British American Insurance Co. (Mtius), a local leader in life and health insurance. The resultant merger forming GlobalCapital created a combined staff complement originating from both the insurance and investment fields. The insurance arm, British American traces back its Maltese roots to the early 1960s operating as a brand in Malta.

Mr Rawat is the Chairman Emeritus of the British American Group of Companies, which is the largest single shareholder in GlobalCapital.He sits on a number of boards of the principal subsidiary and associated companies of the

British American Group. Operations span from Mauritius to Kenya, Malta and the United Kingdom. As non-executive Chairman of GlobalCapital, Mr. Rawat heads the board of directors and oversees strategic issues for the company.

Nicholas Ashford-Hodges, who continues to serve as non-executive director of GlobalCapital as Deputy Chairman, was also present for the awards. Mr Ashford-Hodges is chairman and director of the board of directors of the company’s operating subsidiaries.
