The election campaign has started.

Well, we had three weeks of bliss without politics, and I wonder whether it should be like this all the year round.

Gone were the faces of Lawrence Gonzi and Joseph Muscat from out TV sets. I had had too much of them and was practically not watching any Maltese stations. When someone told me that they had called a truce over Christmas I ventured into Maltese TV again, and it was freshening not to see so much of them.

Still, it was easy to notice that the national broadcasting station, PBS, is now more like a 24-hour political talk-show rather than provide the taxpayers with entertainment.

It starts from early morning and goes on till night and, if this was happening at a time when there was supposed to be a political truce, now I wonder what is going to happen in the next nine weeks.
