MAPFRE approves a change in second Vice-Chairmanship

The Board of Directors of MAPFRE has approved the appointment of Mr. Francisco Vallejo as the new Second Vice-Chairman, replacing Mr. Francisco Ruíz Risueño. This change will be effective as from 8th May, the date on which the latter will leave his functions due to reaching the age of 70. MAPFRE is represented in Malta by the leading insurance company, Middlesea Insurance, which is a member of the MAPFRE Group.

The Second Vice-Chairman position must be held by an External director, according to the Company’s Bylaws.

Mr. Francisco Ruíz Risueño has been member of the Board of Directors and of various Delegated Committees for the last 16 years, playing a leading role as Second Vice-Chairman in the changes introduced by the Company over the last decade. He has also developed an intense professional career in the legal world, has been Member of Parliament during the Constituent period in Spain, member of the Senate and Chairman of the Assembly that drafted the Statute of the Castile-La Mancha Autonomous Region. Since 2003, he is a member of the Board of Directors and Second Vice-Chairman of MAPFRE.

Mr. Francisco Vallejo has spent his entire professional career in the financial world and, was the Chairman of Banco Urquijo until April 2012. At present, he is a member of the Board of Directors of MAPFRE S.A. as well as a member of other governing bodies of this company, Vice-Chairman of MAPFRE EMPRESAS and member of the Board of MAPFRE FAMILIAR. He is also a member of MAPFRE’s Regional Board in Madrid.
