Cash Management is key within an Investment Portfolio

Malta Independent Tuesday, 15 January 2013, 11:30 Last update: about 11 years ago

Both retail and institutional investors are increasingly demanding active management of their cash balances. As a result, cash is widely recognised as an asset class in its own right, deserving the same specialist focus as the other traditional asset classes such as bonds and shares. The La Valette Euro Malta Money Fund which is managed by Valletta Fund Management Limited (“VFM”) has a fund size of over €185 million* and offers investors the opportunity to achieve an attractive and competitive rate of return on their cash balances whilst ensuring a high level of liquidity. The Fund is available in two classes of shares for the retail and the institutional investors.

The Fund compares favourably with bank accounts and offers an alternative to traditional short-term deposits. Due to the maturity profile and portfolio construction of the Fund, access is instant and free of charge and redemption is offered without penalty at short notice.

Mark Agius, Head of VFM stated that “the Fund which invests its assets in euro denominated deposits with credit institutions licensed in Malta and limitedly in any other European States is widely used by retail and institutions to effectively manage their cash balances.” He continued by saying that “investors also benefit from the streamlined operations, economies of scale of a professional manager and reduce the risk associated with placing cash with one institution in view of the diversification principles of an investment fund.”
