With Malta having absolutely no resources, it is indebted to the tune of €5,000 million, but the Nationalist Party keeps proclaiming that Malta’s finances are sound.

The US, on the way to becoming the world’s largest oil and gas producer, within just five or six years, is worried about its public debt.

I would say that the PN’s slogan, that finances are sound, has been plagiarised (I don’t know if by its plagiarism expert) from the Labour Party – Dom Mintoff left money in the kitty when the Labour Party went into opposition in 1987.

If, with €5,000 million of debt, Malta’s finances are sound, as the PN so unashamedly claims, what were they when Eddie Fenech Adami won the government in 1987, when there was money in the public purse, and Dr Fenech Adami proclaimed that money was no problem.

How drastically the situation has changed. It all shows to what extent the PN is in denial, and how it is lying to its country.
