European football leaders want to limit the next FIFA president to 12 years in office — four years more than FIFA's top anti-corruption adviser recommends.

UEFA says its 53 member nations are proposing that football's world governing body follows the International Olympic Committee. It imposed a 12-year presidential limit in reforms after the Salt Lake City bidding scandal.

Current FIFA president Sepp Blatter will have completed 17 years in office when his mandate ends in 2015.

UEFA President Michel Platini is favorite to succeed Blatter, who has pledged not to seek re-election.

Still, UEFA's proposal conflicts with FIFA adviser Mark Pieth's call for an 8-year presidential limit to help curb corruption.

FIFA's 209 member nations are being consulted on suggested reforms which they will vote on in May.
