Mosta should become the fifth team to assure themselves of a Top Six berth this evening as they take on lowly Melita in the first match on the programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun.

In the second match, Hibernians have the chance to go back on top of the standings when they face Floriana.

As already said, Mosta have a good chance to make it to the Top Six, and if not today, they will still have another good chance as their final match is against bottom placed Rabat.

Even two draws from these last two matches will be enough for the Blues to make sure. However, they will be expected to go all out for the three points even if they have lost quite a number of top players who helped them acquire this status in no small measure during the earlier matches leading up to last Christmas.

Melita, now sure of taking part in the Relegation Pool, have only one aim – that of winning as much points as possible in the knowledge that at the start of the second phase, points will be deducted by half.

In the second match, Hibernians will be aiming for a victory to go two points ahead of Valletta although the latter will have Sunday’s match against Balzan in hand.

The Paolites have been strengthened considerably up front with the arrival this week of Edison dos Santos (Tarabai) and Obinna Obiefule.

But the disappointing Floriana have also strengthened their ranks with the arrival of three foreigners and a new coach.

The coach is former Blackburn R. assistant Iain Brunskill while the players are two foreigners – Brazilian striker Rodrigo Branco and English midfielder Harry Agombar as well as Maltese player Udo Nwoko.
