We are a group of teenagers with a profile of dyslexia.  We see things in a different way and we are very imaginative and hence creative.  We have been meeting these last two years to do various activities like drama and share our experience and difficulties.  These experiences were also presented during a conference both in Malta and abroad.  We would like to strongly express that we are both like and different from other teenagers.  We think that the school and the education authorities are not aware of our abilities as students and future Maltese citizens.  We learn, understand and we show what we know in a different way than others who know how to read and write easily.

We beg the authorities to understand that one’s ability can be shown not only in writing.  If we are given the opportunity to do our exams orally or by means of a computer, depending on one’s need, we would feel more comfortable to sit for the exam and show what we know.

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you that a performance is going to be held on Friday 22 February at 7.30pm at the University chapel. A British actor with a profile of dyslexia will be the main actor.  Anyone interested should contact 2340 3518.
