President George Abela, who is a also the patron of the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, has awarded  author Trevor Zahra the Society’s 2012 Gold Medal in recognition of his contribution to Maltese literature.

The ceremony was held at Palazzo de La Salle, and was compered by Council Member Dorothy Meli, during an evening of readings from Zahra’s works by Graziella Galea, who was accompanied on the guitar by Vince Fabri.  An appreciation of Trevor Zahra’s literary contribution was also made by Dr. Mario Cassar, and a personal recollection on Trevor Zahra was made by Richard Zahra.

In his brief introduction to the event, Society President Judge Joseph A. Filletti highlighted the literary contribution made by some of the Presidents of the Society, among others, Prof. Guze Aquilina and Prof. Guze Galea.
