Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said that there is no obligation towards building contractor Zaren Vassallo even though he has loaned €250,000 to the Nationalist Party.
Asked by the Labour media, at the end of his visit to the National Aquarium in Qawra, Dr Gonzi said that he sees nothing strange in all this. He added that in similar fashion to the PL, the PN owns a number of commercial companies and from time to time needs to take a loan to keep them going.
The PN leader stressed that the party is not obliged to offer any form of compensation to Mr Vassallo. His reassurance following criticism by the PL, that Mr Vassallo will be offered preferential treatment when bidding for public contracts.
