My mailboax is jam-packed full of rubbish at the best of times, but now, during the General Election campaign, the amount of stuff that gets pushed in there is reaching epic proportions.

Every day, it’s the same story, leaflet after leaflet of political propaganda. I would have to say that it is not as bad as during the last round of MEP elections, but still, the sheer volume of paper beggars belief. We know that there are supposed to be laws regulating how much candidates can spend, but surely, they must go over it.

Of course, this all has to be taken into the context of the fact that printing so much paper is harmful to the environment. No doubt, some smart Alec will say that it keeps people in a job. All the while, it feeds into the recycling system. So you could say that this campaign is merely recycled rubbish.
