Bottom placed clubs Hamrun Spartans and Melita will be seeking crucial wins this evening as they play their second match in the Relegation Pool.
Having lost their first match last week, they are now in a more precarious position and at present, cannot afford to lose again if they are to keep in touch with those above them.
It is already a difficult situation for both clubs. Together with Rabat, they are in dire straits and it will probably be two of these three clubs that will be relegated.
Rabat will also be in action this evening as they will be facing Hamrun in a direct clash which has now become very important for both clubs.
After their second victory of the season last week (2-1 against Qormi), Rabat are playing with more confidence and are hoping to remain on the winning track so as to keep climbing up the table in their efforts to avoid the Drop.
The Magpies have now left the bottom position and have moved to third from bottom on nine points, one ahead of Hamrun and two ahead of bottom placed Melita.
On their part, the Spartans will have to show considerable improvement if they are to start collecting points in their quest to avoid relegation.
In the other match, it will not be easy for Melita against Qormi even if the latter were surprised by Rabat in last week’s match.
The yellow blacks need to win; if not, the bottom three may still move up the table and creep closer with nine more matches to go.
For Melita, a victory is a must this evening. They certainly cannot afford another defeat as this will send them into a crisis and it will be somewhat difficult for them to recover.
