GonziPN’s strategists seem to be hoping that what remains of the election campaign is fought on who throws the most mud at its political adversary! In this way voters might forget GonziPN’s sins of omission and commission committed during the past legislature!
So I thought of reminding voters of some, not all, of these “sins” or scandals: The B.W.S.C. power station scandal. The Fairmount Dry Dock scandal that cost us many millions of euros. The Arriva fiasco. The Qawra land deal with GO Fiasco. Smart City Fiasco. ARMS Ltd fiasco. Vat scandal. The €500 rise Dr Gonzi gave himself and his Cabinet. Deceiving Air Malta employees about their future with Air Malta. Same story with GO employees, bus owners and employees, hunters and trappers. PBS turned into an almost replica of Net TV. Mepa permits scandals. Simon Busuttil’s gaffes that have now become synonymous with the new Deputy-Head of GonziPN. The Mater Dei fiasco with regard to thousands of patients on stretchers in corridors. Medicines out of stock.
The waiving of over €256,000 owed to government as rent on a Lido in Sliema by Dr Gonzi when he was responsible for the finance ministry. ODZ permits scandals galore. The Brazilian company fiasco. Eighty million euro squandered on an unneeded parliament building. And the present mother of all scandals – the oil procurement commissions scandal of which we have only seen the tip of the iceberg! Lest we forget!
There are many, many more stories readers may remember. But I believe the above is more than enough to convince those who are still undecided, to vote Lawrence Gonzi and his motley crew out of government on 9 March!
