It was already very exceptional that a political party managed to win the general elections in Malta for the third time running in 2008. It would be miraculous if the Nationalist Party succeeds to make it four times running. The Nationalists have an exceptional track record which made Malta a model for other countries. It is enough to say that Malta has the highest number ever of persons with a full time job. But people tend to forget and repeat mistakes which made us suffer so much in the past. Some people just expect the Nationalist government to be perfect. Although these people are not empty handed and are living much better than they ever used to live, they want to punish the Nationalists for some misunderstanding, carelessness or blunder which might be, among others, an Arriva route, a permit not issued, or a promotion not given. Probably these persons are right, but to choose to inflict self punishment by voting Labour or not voting at all is an unfair punishment on their families and on their country. Labour’s horrible record of unemployment, violence and economic stagnation should be an eye opener for all. Let’s give the Nationalists another chance. Otherwise we would soon be very sorry.
