Malta International Training Centre Graduation Ceremony 2013

The Malta International Training Centre (MITC) held its annual Graduation Ceremony on 8 February, during which a number of students received Certificates and Diplomas after successfully completing training programmes.

Outgoing chairman of the MITC and chairman of the Malta Financial Services Authority, Professor J. V. Bannister, delivered an opening address in which he highlighted the importance of the training sector within the financial services and how this operates effectively through the set up of the Education Consultative Council.

Also present at the ceremony was guest speaker Stuart Williams, who is the incumbent president of the Insurance Institute of Peterborough, the latter, being the twinning partner of the local Malta Insurance Institute. Mr Williams, who is a Chartered Insurance Broker, delivered a presentation on the importance of professionalism in the industry.

Receiving certificates were participants successfully completing programmes in insurance, finance and compliance. The graduation event also hosted participants on a weeklong training programme on Insurance Regulation and Supervision jointly supported by the Commonwealth Secretariat (UK) and the Malta Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This programme was attended by various participants from a variety of Commonwealth countries and who also received attendance certificates marking the completion of their programme.

Andre Farrugia, director of Studies of the MITC, presented prizes to the best performing students completing MITC programmes.

MITC is an autonomous, non-profit making organisation dedicated to the training of Human Resources in Insurance, Risk Management and Financial Services. The MITC has obtained level rating recognition from the Malta Qualifications Council and thus its homegrown products are now equivalent to specific levels on the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework platforms.

Besides local participants, MITC attracts participants from the Euro-Mediterranean region, Eastern Europe and Africa.
