Microsoft’s Office 365 is the result of Microsoft’s wanting to adapt to increasingly mobile consumers who want to have Office everywhere they go and who want to be constantly connected to the cloud. Microsoft is fully aware that today, students are very mobile and that they need constant access to their computers and their work even when they are on the go.

In the light of this scenario, Microsoft is launching Office 365 University, a highly convenient solution that introduces students to the benefits of the latest Office, including SkyDrive’s cloud storage, a more touch-friendly design that works with tablets and touch-screen laptops and collaboration tools.

Microsoft Office 365 University is available for University students and  higher level students including Junior College, MCAST, Giovanni Curmi and Sir Michael Refalo Higher Secondaries, sixth form colleges such as St Martins, St Edwards, St Aloysius and De La Salle and the Institute of Tourism Studies. Office 365 University is also available for teachers and academic staff.

“The way most of us have used Microsoft Office over the years has stayed the same, but the software suite is changing radically, with a hard emphasis on getting consumers to subscribe,” explains Jacqueline Harvey CCG (Consumer Channel Group) manager MS Malta. “Students will in fact be able to enjoy outstanding value with a four-year subscription to Office 365 University which gives them access to full Office programmes, on two PCs or Macs and the capability to select the mobile devices they will be using.”

When signing in with their Microsoft Account, students will experience the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher and Access and they will be able to store, edit and share their documents online with an additional 20 GB of SkyDrive storage. Office can also be used on Demand, giving access to the full versions of Office programmes through any PC.

“We are committed long-term to the mission of helping our customers, especially students, to realize their full potential. Just as we constantly update and improve our products, we want to continually evolve to be in the best position to accelerate new technologies as they emerge and to better serve our customers,” added Ms Harvey from Microsoft Malta.
