On the occasion of World Book Day celebrated worldwide on April 23rd, Banif Bank (Malta) made a donation to the Gzira Local Council, which funds will go towards purchasing some of the latest publications for its library. World Book and Copyright Day is a yearly event organised on an international level by UNESCO that aims to promote reading, publishing and copyright.

The donation was made to Gzira Local Council Mayor Roberto Cristiano, who thanked Banif for the sponsorship. In order to serve better the residents in the locality, the Gzira Local Council updates its library regularly, so that it is kept fresh, enticing and relevant.

Banif’s initiative reflects the Bank’s values and commitment towards educational and cultural initiatives in the localities in which it operates. The Bank acknowledges the importance of literacy as a skill that empowers citizens to think critically and to participate fully in society.

The Gzira Local Council Library is open on Mondays and Saturdays from 9am to 12 noon, Wednesdays from 10am till 11am and Fridays from 5pm to 7pm.
