Congratulations to Malta’s female MEPs

Malta Independent Sunday, 28 April 2013, 09:04 Last update: about 13 years ago

The National Council of Women welcomes the news that three women have been elected members of the European Parliament, giving women a 50 per cent presence among the six Maltese MEPs. Their representation of the Maltese population in the European Parliament will enhance Malta’s steady development with regard to women’s participation in politics at EU level. Since Malta’s EU membership in 2004, there was no female representation at all. This follows a recent achievement for Maltese women with the election of 10 women to the Maltese Parliament.

The National Council of Women wishes Marlene Mizzi, Roberta Metsola Tedesco Triccas and Claudette Abela Baldacchino every success in their new role and looks forward to continue further cooperation through NCW in addressing national and EU matters for the benefit of our society with all our MEPs
