Toly reaffirms its support to MCAST Institute of Art & Design

Malta Independent Thursday, 9 May 2013, 17:02 Last update: about 13 years ago

Toly chairman and CEO Andy Gatesy has reaffirmed Toly’s pledge to support MCAST Institute of Art and Design by presenting its sponsorship of software to Stephen Vella, MCAST Institute of Art and Design director. The presentation ceremony was held in the presence of Dorien Bianco, head of Marketing and Business Development at Toly, as well as deputy director of MCAST Institute of Art and Design Melanie Mizzi.

This sponsorship is over and above the monitory prizes granted to students placing first, second and third in each of the Toly-related assignments being conducted by the institute, not to mention the internships and factory visits organised for the students by Toly, and the ongoing discussions with students on market demands and requirements.

Toly, a global supplier of high-quality plastic packaging components sold around the world by leaders in the cosmetic, skincare and fragrance sectors, has always been at the forefront of education-business linking initiatives. Operating for over 40 years, Toly has not only favoured life-long learning opportunities for its 1,000 employees spread over its office and production facilities located worldwide, but has also held links between business and academia in very high regard. One such link is the ongoing collaboration Toly has with the MCAST Institute of Art and Design.

As Mr Gatesy stated during the event: “Toly reaffirms its commitment to strengthen the younger generations and give them the opportunity to gain a better knowledge of the world of work by providing students with practical case studies to put their coursework into practice.” Ms Bianco also added that Toly is very pleased with the outcome of the various initiatives conducted with this institute. “We are impressed to see the high calibre of innovative ideas and techniques demonstrated by these students, the majority of who participated in their assignments with a high level of commitment.”

Toly projects have been running with MCAST for over three years and have involved assignments on topics relating to product innovation, exhibition stands, publication cover and video designs. Each of the student’s projects is marked in terms of research, relevance to the brief, presentation and idea creativity.

The Group looks forward to continuing to work with MCAST Institute of Art and Design on a variety of initiatives. Its experience in this collaboration has been very positive and commendable to any other business establishment having a firm belief that its responsibilities go beyond merely meeting its commitments to its customers but also to the communities in which its customers and indeed itself operate.
