Where's Everybody denies it is closing down

Where’s Everybody, which produces several popular TV shows on the national broadcasting station, will not be closing down but will undergo a restructuring process that entails the formation of new offshoot companies reflecting different specializations, The Malta Independent online has learnt.

Reports in the media this morning led to speculation, especially among employees, that the termination notice they received will lead to the closing down of the company, and is connected to the change of government or that WE fears losing programmes as from the autumn schedule.

But the statement issued by WE specifically lays down that this is all part of an exercise that will fine-tune the company’s operations.

The statement, signed by directors Lou Bondi and PJ Vassallo, said that “since its inception in 1999, the operational remit of each of its directors has become more specialised. We are now simply formalising this process which entails the creation of new off-shoot companies reflecting these specialisations.

“The notice given to our employees is part of this process. Those employees who fit into the new structures shall be re-engaged.

“The individual directors shall continue to work together to carry out their original functions through these companies and by sharing resources through Where’s Everybody.

“Specifically, Lou Bondi shall continue to produce and present TV programmes and provide strategic communications consultancy, PJ Vassallo and Mark Vassallo’s focus shall be on production and broadcast and Peppi Azzopardi will continue producing and presenting TV programmes.”
