Collaboration between secondary schools within Maria Regina College

On Tuesday, 16 April, after five months of planning and preparing resources, PSD teachers held a whole day PSD seminar at Villa Psaigon, l/o Rabat.

Being PSD teachers it is our wish to see that what is being taught is put into practice and applied in every day life. This opportunity arose when our team of PSD teachers at Maria Regina Boys’ Secondary School came up with the idea of organising a day’s seminar entitled Relationships, where views from both males and females could be voiced.

This project evolved between the PSD teachers of our school, those at the Maria Regina Girls’ Secondary School and Agenzija Zaghzagh in charge of Villa Psaigon. Both Sandro Spiteri, director CMeLD and Stephen Camilleri, E.O. PSD were happy over the initiative.

There emerged collaboration among secondary schools within Maria Regina College.  Both heads of schools, Mr M. Mercieca and Ms L. Deguara respectively, agreed with this project so much so that the respective schools contributed towards this seminar.

The dynamics that these students provided in mixed groups was very positive and yet challenging. They got to know how males differ from females and vice versa in their methodically way of thinking. This was not an easy feat since it involved more than 150 male and female Form 3 students facilitated by 12 teachers and LSAs.

Moreover, the end result was very satisfying since the students enjoyed themselves so much that they asked for these types of seminars to be organised every year.
