Dar tal-Providenza gets a boost

Malta Independent Tuesday, 28 May 2013, 20:21 Last update: about 11 years ago

A team from Bank of Valletta’s Customer Service Centre spent a day of voluntary work refurbishing parts of Dar tal-Providenza, an opportunity to help the residents as well as to learn more about the valid work done there.

“This BOV activity was a truly inspiring opportunity for the whole team,” said Karl Spiteri, Head Customer Service Centre, whilst presenting a cash donation raised by the team to Fr Martin Micallef, director of the home.  “It made us appreciate the smaller things in life which we usually take for granted.  Away from our day-to-day jobs, it felt positive to be giving something back to the community.”

The activity is in line with Bank of Valletta’s commitment towards worthy initiatives within the community in which it operates. The Group is involved with many significant philanthropic activities – and has been a staunch supporter of Dar tal-Providenza over the years particularly during the annual BOV Volleyball Marathon which will take place in the car park of Dar Tal-Providenza, between Friday 5th and Sunday 7th of July 2013.

“On behalf of the residents of Dar tal-Providenza, I would like to thank Bank of Valletta’s staff at Customer Service Centre for choosing to do a day of voluntary work at our homes, and also giving us a generous donation. It is very encouraging for us who live and work here to realise that the work carried out with persons who need support is being acknowledged.  Such gestures are praiseworthy and inspiring,” said Fr Martin Micallef, director at Dar tal-Providenza.

The Dar tal-Providenza in Siggiewi offers residential services in a family-like environment to persons with disability who, for some reason, cannot continue living with their natural family.
