I refer to your article reporting GO's
AGM in The Malta Business Weekly of two weeks ago.
The words “ex-gratia” should be substituted with “Dividends”. What I actually asked the Board of Directors, is to provide shareholders with a statement on what is their Dividend policy.
To clarify, other publicly quoted companies, would indicate that irrespective of what the profit figure will be in the next year, they would announce that (say) 50% of it will be given out as a Dividend to the shareholders.
Thus, shareholders know that if a company does well, it will not only be possible to experience a Capital appreciation in share value, but also a cash back return through a Dividend.
