The finalists for the e-Journalism Award, sponsored by SmartCity Malta, of this year’s Malta Journalism Awards were announced last Friday at SmartCity Malta. The three finalists are Darrin Zammit Lupi, photojournalist at Allied Newspapers, Chris Peregin, journalist at Allied Newspapers and Josanne Cassar, freelance writer. Commenting about the awards, SmartCity CEO, Abdullatif AlMulla said, “We are very pleased to be sponsoring the e-Journalism category for another year. E-Journalism plays a very important role in the media industry as in today’s fast-paced world, news needs to be published accurately, fast and made accessible to online readers. This award rewards those journalists and writers who contribute to Maltese news-based websites which are becoming an increasingly important source of news for Maltese citizens.” The Institute of Maltese Journalists’ Chairman, Malcolm Naudi said, “The e-Journalism category has now become one of the most sought-after in the Malta Journalism Awards. The Institute of Maltese Journalists thanks SmartCity Malta for this sponsorship.” “In a new initiative this year, the Institute has also accepted to go out to the sponsors to host key milestones in the Awards, with SmartCity accepting to host the announcement of the finalists on 31st May. For this too we are grateful," Mr Naudi continued.  The Malta Journalism Awards are organised annually by the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM). The winners of this 23rd edition of the Malta Journalism Awards winners will be announced at the awards ceremony which will be held on 15th June at The Palace, Sliema.
