A 45-year-old man from St Julians was jailed for four years after committing four hold-ups in his home town. Mark Saviour Borg admitted before Magistrate Carol Peralta that he stole twice from an ice-cream vendor and from a shop that sells cheesecakes.
Borg admitted during the compilation of evidence stage that on 11 March at 5.45pm he stole cash from “Champ's Pastizzeria” which is owned by George Fenech. He also admitted of holding the salesgirl Katelina Vasileva Marinova against her will.
He also admitted that later in the month on Freedom Day, at around 12.30 am he stole money from the ice-cream vendor “Gelateria Lungomare”, owned by B. Outlets Limited, and that he also held Chanelle Scicluna against her will.
Borg also admitted that on 6 April at 11pm he stole money and items from 8 Till Late, owned by Miller Distributors Limited, and that he had held Daniel Thomas Calleja against his will.
The fourth hol-up was made on 10 April as he went back to the Gelateria Lungomare at around 10.30pm from where he stole money and a mobile phone.
