MCAST students and staff invite Maltese families, including young and adult prospective students, to the MCAST Expo, a five-day event aimed at offering visitors a taste of the MCAST learning experience.

The second edition of the MCAST Expo will be held between Tuesday 25 and Saturday 29 June in one of the buildings of the new MCAST Campus, in Paola. Students, lecturers, career advisers and other support staff will be available under one roof to help visitors discover different aspects related to the College’s 170 full-time and 300 part-time courses, as well as other student support services available at MCAST.

Prospective students, particularly young individuals who have just completed secondary (Form 5) or post-secondary (Sixth Form) education, are invited to collect their copy of the 2013/2014 Full-Time Courses Prospectus and the Application Form while visiting the Expo.

The Prospectus contains detailed information about MCAST’s full-time training opportunities beginning in October, ranging from introductory certificate courses to higher national diploma and degree programmes.

During the Expo, MCAST’s 10 institutes and the Gozo Centre will be encouraging visitors to engage in enjoyable hands-on activities to experience different career paths in several industrial sectors. The Institutes will also be hosting representatives of major local employers to give details about current and upcoming employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. Visitors can also meet MCAST students and find out more about their projects and innovations.

The college’s student support staff will be at hand to provide advice to prospective students and answer any queries about MCAST’s courses. Each Institute will be also holding specific information talks about the courses on offer. Special guests who excelled in different industry sectors will participate in the Expo to share their career experiences. Visitors will be invited to participate in competitions, with a chance to win several prizes.

For the first time, the MCAST Prospectus was pre-released online through the college’s Facebook page. Thousands of users have already browsed through its pages in the last few weeks.

Among the training opportunities on offer, there are nine new programmes. The Institute of Community Services is introducing the MCAST Foundation Certificate in Sport – Level 2. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is launching revised programmes for two of its electrical installation courses, the Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures) (C&G 2365) - Level 3 and Level 4.

As it enters its third year since its foundation, the Institute of Applied Science is launching three new programmes – the MCAST-BTEC Higher National Diploma in Applied Chemistry, the MCAST-BTEC Higher National Diploma in Environmental Conservation and the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Environmental Engineering.

Another two degree programmes, the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Horticulture and the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Building Services Engineering are being offered by the Institute of Agribusiness and the Institute of Building and Construction Engineering respectively.

The MCAST Gozo Centre is introducing the MCAST-BTEC National Diploma in Children's Play, Learning and Development, which was previously only offered at the Institute of Community Services, in Paola.

The printed version of the Prospectus will be launched during the first day of the Expo. Visitors to the event will be able to collect a copy of this publication, as well as the Application Form for new students. After the Expo, the Prospectus and the Application Form will also be available from the MCAST Main Campus in Paola, from the MCAST institutes in Mosta, Naxxar, Qormi and Kalkara, from the MCAST Gozo Centres in Xaghra and Xewkija, and from all local council offices.
