Gonzalo Higuain's Arsenal move is "at an advanced stage", according to his dad, The Sun reports.

The Gunners are ready to pay a club-record £22million for the Argentine, who is also wanted by Juventus.

Jorge Higuain played down suggestions that personal terms — reported to be £150,000 a week — have been agreed, but said a deal is close.

He insisted: “Nothing has yet been signed but I assure you the negotiations between the clubs are at an advanced stage.

“We won’t agree a contract before the clubs reach a transfer deal. I’m sure Arsenal made a big offer, and Juventus.”

Norwich manager Chris Hughton is trying to beat Everton to sign Wigan striker Arouna Kone, the Daily Mail reports.

The Ivory Coast star’s contract has a £5m buy-out clause.

Last season he scored 13 goals and helped Wigan win the FA Cup. Hull, Liverpool and Crystal Palace are also keen.

Sochaux defender Sebastien Corchia had been linked with a move to England, but his agent says a switch to Lyon is close, Sky reports.

Arsenal were credited with holding an interest in the 22-year-old full-back.

Arsene Wenger was said to have turned his attention to Corchia as Bacary Sagna's future at Emirates Stadium remained shrouded in uncertainty.
