Transfer news: Man City in hunt for striker, Everton keen on Honda

Malta Independent Wednesday, 26 June 2013, 13:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Carlos Tevez's turbulent stay in England was coming to an end on Tuesday night after Manchester City agreed a £10million deal with Juventus for the Argentina striker, the Daily Mail reports.

Tevez, 29, is set to sign a three-year contract in Turin once he undergoes a medical on Wednesday although sources close to the player insist that personal terms have yet to be agreed.

The two clubs struck a deal yesterday after Juve general manager Beppe Marotta and sporting director Fabio Paratici flew to England to conclude negotiations yesterday.

The basic fee of £7.6m will rise to £10m if, as expected, the Italians qualify for the Champions League in each of the next three seasons. City could also receive up to £2.5m if Juventus win a trophy in that time.

Considering that they will save an additional £17m in wages and bonuses over the course of the final year of Tevez’s £196,000-a-week contract, City chiefs were last night understood to be delighted at the sale of player who would have been a free agent next summer.

Tottenham and Liverpool are vying to sign Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu, 19, on loan, the Daily Mail reports.

The talented wideman is among Barcelona's most promising prospects, even by recent standards.

The arrival of Brazil international Neymar, however, has pushed him further down the Spanish champions' pecking order, and he could therefore benefit from a loan move.

Everton are keen on Japan midfielder Keisuke Honda, 27, from CSKA Moscow.

Honda has returned to Premier League radars by impressing at the Confederations Cup.

And it now appears he could move to Everton, as they prepare for the possible loss of Marouane Fellaini.
