Luis Suarez moved a step closer to Real Madrid last night after they appointed Carlo Ancelotti as boss, The Dail Star reports.
New coach Ancelotti wants Suarez to join him at the Bernabeu because he sees him as a cheaper option than Edinson Cavani.
It is understood the Liverpool striker has agreed personal terms with Real, who are confident they can sign him for less than his estimated £40m buy-out clause.
Suarez has offers from Italy but wants to go to Madrid, and his agent Pere Guardiola is working to get the deal done.
Real have also won the race with Manchester City to sign Malaga forward Isco, but their pursuit of Gareth Bale remains deadlocked.
