Sirens Ritter Sport 8
Exiles Ferretti 6
(1-1, 3-0, 2-3, 2-2)
Sirens obtained their first points in their last game of the first round of play, having the better of Exiles, whose third session recovery was not enough. Sirens had a match winner in captain, David Cutajr, as he bagged a total of four goals. Exiles were never in front throughout the encounter, though they managed to tie the score after the interval. Both sides began this match pointless after three games, and this defeat now leaves Exiles alone at the bottom of the standings. Cutajar opened the score for the St Paul’s Bay side, but Romain Blary put both teams level in the opening period.
The next session proved beneficial to Sirens, , with both teams missing their man ups. Goals from Zak Mizzi, who recovered from his in- jury against Sliema, Csaba Kiss and Alex Attard took Sirens to a sound 4- 1 advantage halfway through the match. After the break came exiles’ revival. Peter Borg reduced their deficit, and although Vojoslav Cupic missed a penalty throw, saved by Alan Grech in goal, the same Cupic then scored twice in a row, and a level score. It was Cutajar who obtained another double advantage for Sirens, as they went into the last quarter 6-4 ahead. Borg again halved Exiles’ arrears, but Cutajar was on hand once more for Sirens.
Cupic converted another penalty for Exiles, only for Andrew Zarb Cousin to open up Sirens’ lead again. The 8-6 score then stayed the same till the end of the match. Sirens scored in two of their seven man ups, but Exiles could only convert two out of nine favourable expulsions.

(4-2, 1-4, 2-1, 4-2)
Otters garnered their first victory, after an opening draw against Ta Xbiex, leaving Marsaxlokk stranded at the foot of the table. The Gozitans were well worth their victory, even though M’xlokk managed to stay close in the game, but Otters had a splendid Nicky Grech in goal, who saved his side time and again. Otters had taken a double lead in teh opening session, but M’xlokk turned the tables till the interval, as Robert Kovacs netted all his four goals, for a 6-5 lead to his side. The Gozitans started the last period
on an even score, at 7-7, , and al- though they were behind twice more, a trio of goals gave them the necessary advantage to grab all the three points, as Ionut Necsulescu also netted a poker of goals. Both sides fared i the same in their man ups, each scoring only once in four occasions.
