Dimitar Berbatov’s agent revealed the striker will see out the remaining year of his contract with Fulham, The London Evening Standard reported.

The Bulgarian has been linked with a move to Russia this summer, with Zenit St Petersburg among the clubs who are interested in signing the 32-year-old striker.

However, agent Emil Danchev says Berbatov will be at Fulham next season, which will come as a relief to manager Martin Jol.

Fulham are desperate to avoid a repeat of last summer, when they lost Mousa Dembele and Clint Dempsey to Tottenham.

“He has another one-year contract with Fulham and he will stay at Fulham until the end of his contract,” said Danchev.

“He’s happy at Fulham and he wants to stay another year. I don’t want to comment on other clubs. Even if there is interest, he’s happy in Fulham and he wants to stay. He will play football for at least two more years.”

 Real Madrid says it has a deal to sign Malaga midfielder Francisco "Isco" Alarcon, one of Europe's most prized young players.

Madrid club president Florentino Perez told Spanish national radio "we have a deal with the club and we have a deal with the player."

Florentino says that Isco has to pass a routine medical exam and "it's probable he will be presented next week."

The 21-year-old Isco helped Malaga reach the Champions League quarterfinals last season and guided Spain to the under-21 European title this summer.

Joe Kinnear is trying to put the furore caused by his Newcastle appointment behind him by chasing Alan Pardew’s top two transfer targets - Darren Bent and James Tomkins, The Mirror reports.

Pardew gave Kinnear the names of Aston Villa striker Bent and West Ham defender Tomkins when they spoke on the phone last week, before he went on holiday.

The Toon’s controversial new director of football discussed the club's transfer targets with chief scout Graham Carr at the beginning of the week and is keen to make progress.

Kinnear wants to draw a line under the row sparked by his appointment by getting on with the job owner Mike Ashley brought him in to do.

The 66-year-old has so far been conducting most of his business via the phone, away from the St James’ Park, but hopes to move into his new office next week.
