Chelsea have had a £5 million bid for England goalkeeper John Ruddy rejected by Norwich, the London Evening Standard reported
The Blues want Ruddy to be back-up to Petr Cech next season but Standard Sport understands they did not offer the full fee up front and that it consisted of add-ons to take it to the £5m mark.
Norwich value the 26-year-old, who cost just £400,000 when he joined from Everton in 2010, at least double that as he has impressed in the Premier League and won his first England cap in a friendly against Italy last August.
Ruddy signed a new four-year contract last year but Chelsea are expected to return with another offer as they need to sign at least one goalkeeper to support first-choice Cech.
