Transfer news: Spurs set to sign two Croatian rising stars

Malta Independent Monday, 1 July 2013, 11:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Tottenham look set to sign two of Europe's highest-rated young players as they close on a deal for 17-year-old Dinamo Zagreb pair Tin Jedvaj and Alen Halilovic, the Mirror reports.

Press reports in Croatia suggest that the teenagers would stay on loan with the Croatian champions if Spurs chief Daniel Levy can complete the ambitious deal.

Roma failed with a £5million offer for Jedvaj last week.

The combined fee for the players could reach £15million including a host of performance-related clauses, with Dinamo president Mirko Barisic claiming the deal is 'all agreed'.

Halilovic featured in the Champions League this season as Dinamo picked up just a solitary point from six games, but the club's sporting director Zoran Mamic think he can surpass the level of former Spurs favourite Luka Modric:

"A lot of people have compared him to Luka Modric, but he’s better than Luka was at this age.

"Everyone at the club thinks he has even more potential and that he will become one of the best players in the world."

The youngsters would move to White Hart Lane on turning 18 - this winter for Jedvaj while Halilovic would arrive next summer.
