Transfer: Chelsea leading chase for WBA's Brown

Malta Independent Monday, 1 July 2013, 14:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Chelsea are leading the chase to sign West Brom wonder kid Isaiah Brown, The Daily Star reports.

Brown, 16, is at the centre of a tug-of-war between the Blues and Arsenal.

But Chelsea are in pole position to land the 6ft striker, who became the second-youngest player in Premier League history in May.

They have been in talks with Brown’s representatives for some time over a switch to Stamford Bridge.

And sources close to the deal believe the Blues’ willingness to spend big on youngsters gives them another edge in the race for the England youth international.

Albion are desperate to keep Brown, who is on a two-year scholarship deal.

Scott Carson is flying back to England to sign for Owen Coyle’s Wigan today after a £700,000 fee was agreed with Turkish side Bursaspor, the Mirror reports.

Former Three Lions keeper Carson has decided to end his exile and return to join Coyle’s new-look team - taking a pay cut in the process.

Carson quit West Brom for the lucrative move a couple of seasons ago but now wants to come home and play regular football.
