Dynasty PN commentators have made a song and dance about the government’s decision  to grant a 100 days amnesty to all prisoners with some exceptions.

Minister Emmanuel Mallia has reminded the opposition of the number of amnesties granted by PN governments. But particularly, the amnesty given by Eddie Fenech Adami when he had first became prime minister. Two months for every year which prisoners, without exception, were expected to serve. This meant that the most hardened prisoners who were handed down the longest sentences, received the biggest amnesty.

Reading certain comments this time round, one could easily get the impression that all prisoners were about to be set free. When the ones who have been set free by the time this letter appears in print, were those who had 100 days or less still to serve. The rest will only be released from Corradino 100 days before their official release date is due, which for many is still years away.

After the amnesty, the PN clutched at straws once more. This time, it was the banquet held by Dr Mallia’s ministry for the 250 delegates of the EBU, because the catering unit of the police force had offered their services to do the catering and waiting, together with ITS students.

That minister Mallia is in the PN commentators sights was confirmed again when they unleashed their pit-bulls on him because he was present during the interview for security services personnel. The interviews ended with the opposition leader declaring that all his “concerns” had been addressed during the meeting called promptly by the prime minister. And hence Dr Busuttil felt reassured that the people could trust the security services under the direct responsibility of minister Dr. Emmanuel Mallia.

What will the next non-argument be in the PN’s desperate bid to undermine this government’s credibility ? In doing all this, the party continues to undermine its so-called “Christian Democratic” values.
