Self-hypnosis – regaining control of your life

Malta Independent Monday, 8 July 2013, 11:31 Last update: about 13 years ago

International hypnotherapist and author Deborah Marshall-Warren is conducting a seminar on self-hypnosis on 26 and 30 July, 2013, at the InterContinental, St Julian’s.

Organisers LEAD Events say there are both personal and professional benefits for the delegates, who are being restricted to 20.

“Self-hypnosis helps you to regain control of your life, overcoming phobias like a fear of flying, promoting relaxation, combating stress, improving performance, boosting self-confidence and self-esteem, and promoting better focus and concentration,” James Grech, managing director of LEAD Events, said.

Ms Marshall-Warren points out that self-hypnosis uses the subconscious mind to influence behaviour and feelings by auto-suggestion. It is also effective for improving a range of abilities, exploring and exploiting creative potential. Therapeutic self-hypnosis is recommended by many doctors, dentists, psychologists, psychotherapists and personal coaches.

Among the aims of the seminar are to guide participants through a thorough, comprehensive introduction to hypnosis and, in particular, self-hypnosis; teach them how to induce a state of hypnosis safely and responsibly; and give them an in-depth understanding of how hypnotherapy can be used to promote personal development and be of therapeutic benefit.

Participants will receive a programme for building confidence and self-esteem from within; develop their skills to support and develop this in others; teach them how to create 'suggestions' for change within themselves; and generate a real boost in their general well-being.

They will also learn how to recognise and use naturally occurring trance states; how to induce a trance; counting and breathing techniques for deepening a trance; visualisation techniques using the five senses; effective language use and imagery; how to formulate post-hypnotic suggestions; and how to use self-hypnosis to reduce stress, boost confidence, improve performance and memory, and break unwanted habits
